weeping from shia point of view

1) Imām Ja'far  Sādiq (A.S.) said:
"One who weeps for Imām Husain (a.s.) when he is mentioned before him will be rewarded by Allāh Himself, even if their tears are as small as the wing of a fly. And Allāh will not be pleased with any reward for them lesser than Paradise."
[Reference: Kamiluz Ziyaraat, Chapter 32, Tradition 3, page 102]

2) Imām Ja'far  Sādiq (A.S.) said:
"There are no eyes and tears loved more by Allāh than the eyes of those who cry and shed tears over Imām Husain (a.s.). And there is none who cries but that his crying reaches Lady Fātima (s.a.) and he supports her in her lamentation, and his crying also reaches the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) and in this way he fulfills our rights"
[Reference: Kamiluz Ziyaraat, Chapter 26, Tradition 6, page 85]

3) Imām Alī ibn Mūsā al-Rezā (a.s.) said:
“O son of Shabeeb! If you desire to earn the reward of those who were martyred along with Imām Husayn (a.s.), then whenever you remember him, say: I wish I had been with them, then I too would have attained the Great Triumph.”

4) Imām Ja'far ibn Muhammad  al-Sādiq (A.S.) said:
"O Abu Ammārah! A person who recites couplets for Imām Husayn (a.s.) and makes fifty people weep, his reward is Paradise. And a person who recites couplets for Imām Husayn (a.s.) and makes thirty people weep, his reward is Paradise. And a person who recites couplets and makes twenty people weep, his reward is Paradise. And a person who recites couplets for Imām Husayn (a.s.) and makes ten people weep, his reward is Paradise. While a person who recites couplets for Imām Husayn (a.s.) and makes one person weep, his reward is Paradise. While a person who recites couplets for Imām Husayn (a.s.), and himself weeps, his reward is Paradise. And whoever recites a couplet for Imām and himself is aggrieved, his reward is Paradise.”
[Reference: Nafasul Mahmum, Section 2,  Hadith 13]

5) Imām al-Sādiq (A.S.) said to Musme' Kardeen : Do you remember the troubles which were inflicted on Imām Husayn (a.s.)” and  Musme' replied in the affirmative. Imām again asked, “Are you then disturbed by it”?
I replied, “Verily yes, by Allāh! And this grief effects me such that the people of my family see this (it's effects) upon my face, and I even leave my meals while this sorrow becomes apparent on my cheeks.
Imām Ja'far ibn Muhammad  al-Sādiq (A.S.) said:
"May Allāh have mercy upon your tears! Verily you are of those people who are afflicted by our grief, those who rejoice at our prosperity and lament over our sorrows, and who are attached to us in our time of dread and peace. In fact when you die, you will find our Blessed Forefathers close to you and they will counsel the Angel of death regarding you, and glad tidings shall be given to you which will illuminate your eyes. Then he shall be more compassionate and merciful towards you than a mother is to her son."

6) Imām Alī ibn Mūsā al-Rezā (a.s.) said:
“Whoever avoids attending to his worldly affairs on the tenth of Muharram, Allāh will fulfill all the wishes and desires of this world as well as the hereafter. Whoever considers this day to be a day of mourning, sorrow and weeping for himself, Allāh the Glorified will make the day of Qiyāmah to be a day of rejoicing for him and his eyes will be cooled in Paradise on account of us. And whoever considers the tenth of Muharram to be a day of prosperity and buys something for his house (considering it a good omen), then Allāh will not give him affluence in that thing. And on the day of Qiyāmah he will be made to arise along with Yazid, Ubaydullāh bin Ziyād and Umar ibn Sa'ad (may Allāh's curse be on all of them) and will be thrown into the lowest abyss of hell..”

7) Imām Ja'far ibn Muhammad  al-Sādiq (A.S.) said:
"Recite Sura al Fajr in your obligatory (wājib) and supererogatory (Nāfilah) morning Prayers, for it is particularly related to Imām Husayn (a.s.). Have you not heard the words of Allāh the Exalted in this Verse (Ayāh):
O Tranquilled Soul at (complete) rest! Return to your Lord, well-pleased (with Him), (and) His being well-pleased with you.” (Surah al-Fajr, 89:27-30).
Here Imām Husayn (a.s.) is referred to as the”Tranquilled Soul, well-pleased (with Allāh) and His being well-pleased with him.”
His companions from the family of the Prophet, are those who will be pleased with Allāh on the day of Qiyāmah and Allāh too will be pleased with them. Verily this Sura is particularly connected to Imām Husayn, his followers (Shi'āh), and the followers (Shi'āh) of the Progeny of Prophet Muhammad (S). The one who continuously recites this Sura will remain with Imām Husayn (a.s.) in Paradise in his elevated station, and verily Allāh is Predominant and All-Wise."

8) Imām Alī ibn Mūsā al-Rezā (A.S.) said:
"Muharram is a month in which bloodshed was considered unlawful by the pre-Islāmic pagan Arabs, but our blood was shed in this month. Our sanctity was violated and our children & women-folk were made captives. Our tents were set ablaze and whatever was found therein was looted. And they did not even honor the relation, which we share with the Prophet of Allāh (S). The day on which Imām Husayn (a.s.) was martyred has injured our eyes and our tears are constantly flowing since then. Our dear ones were dishonored on the plains of grief and trials (Karbo bāla) making way for sorrows and sufferings until Qiyāmah. Thus, sorrowful people should mourn over it (the martyrdom of Imām Husayn), for weeping upon it nullifies the major sins."

9) Imām Ja'far ibn Muhammad  al-Sādiq (A.S.) said:
"Since the day Imām Husain (a.s.) was martyred, Allāh(s.w.t.) has appointed seventy thousand angels who are disheveled and covered with dust; to invoke blessings on Imām Husain (a.s.) and pray for mercy on him as long as Allāh wills, that is till the time of the Qaim (a.s.)."

10) Imām Ja'far ibn Muhammad  al-Sādiq (A.S.) said:
“He in whose presence we (and our miseries) are mentioned and, as a result, his eyes pour out tears, Allāh shall make his face forbidden upon the fire of hell".
[Reference: Bihar al Anwar vol. 44, pg. 185]

11) Imām Ja'far ibn Muhammad  al-Sādiq (A.S.) said:
“The breath of one who is aggrieved upon the injustice and oppression subjected to us, is tasbeeh(glorification of Allāh), and his grief for us, is i'baadat (worship of Allāh) and his concealing our secrets, is jihad in the path of Allāh.
Imām (A.S.) then added: This tradition ought to be written in gold.

12) Imām Ja'far ibn Muhammad  al-Sādiq (A.S.) said:
“There is a fixed reward for every act, except for shedding tears on us.”
[Reference: Kamiluz Ziyaraat, Chapter 33, Tradition 6, page 108]

13) Imām Ja'far ibn Muhammad  al-Sādiq (A.S.) said:
“The boundaries of the grave of Imām Husain (a.s.) are twenty ells by twenty ells and it is a garden from the gardens of Paradise. The ascent of the angels to the heavens begins from here. Every proximate angel and every Prophet, chosen as a messenger, asks Allāh for permission to perform the Ziyarat of Imām Husain (a.s.). There is always a crowd descending from heavens to perform the Ziyarat of Imām Husain (a.s.) and a crowd ascending back."
[Reference: Kamiluz Ziyaraat, Chapter 38, Tradition 3, page 113]

14) Imām Ja'far ibn Muhammad  al-Sādiq (A.S.) said:
“One who performs the Ziyarat of Imām Husain (a.s.) has connected with Allāh’s Messenger and with us. It is unlawful to slander him and it is unlawful for Hell to touch his flesh. Allāh will compensate him for every Dirham he spends with ten thousand cities, which will be written for him in a scroll. Allāh will look after all of his needs and everything that he leaves behind will be protected. He will not ask Allāh for anything without Him granting it either immediately or in future."
[Reference: Kamiluz Ziyaraat, Chapter 46, Tradition 1, page 127]

15) Imām Ali ibn Musa al-Reza (A.S.) said:
“There is a binding contract on every Shia and follower towards him Imām and the most perfect and beautiful way to fulfill this contract is to perform the Ziyarat of the grave of that Imām. On Judgment Day, Imām (a.s.) will intercede for one who performs his Ziyarat with longing and believe in that which he has been ordered to believe.."

16) Amir al-Mu'minin Imām ‘Alī ibn Abī Tālib (a.s.) said:

17) Prophet  Mūsa bin Imran (a.s) supplicated to Allāh and said,
"O my Lord! My brother has died, thus forgive him."
Allāh (s.w.t.) revealed to him,
"O Mūsa!  If you desire, I shall forgive all the people from the beginning until the end, except the murderers of Husain (a.s), for I shall surely take revenge from them."
[References:  Nafasul Mahmum,  Chapter 3, Section 2, Tradition 17]

18) One day Imām Husain (a.s) went to his brother Imām Hasan (a.s). When he looked at Imām Hasan (a.s), he started weeping. Imām Hasan (a.s.) asked,
"O Aba Abdillah! Why do you weep"?
Imām Husain (a.s.) replied "I wept on account of that which would befall you".
Imām Hasan ibn ‘Alī ibn Abī Tālib (A.S.) said,
"What shall befall me is the fatal poison, but none of my days will be similar to that of yours. Thirty thousand people, claiming to follow our Grandfather (the Prophet), will unite to attack you and shed your blood, and violate the sanctity and imprison your women-folk and children and plunder your tents. At that time the wrath (of Allāh) will descend upon the Bani Umayyah and the heavens will rain blood, and all things will lament over you, to the extent that the wild-beasts of the forests and the fish of the rivers will also weep over your sufferings."
[References:  Nafasul Mahmum,  Chapter 3, Section 2, Tradition 39]

19) Qaddah says, that I asked Imām al-Sādiq (a.s.) that,
“The one who goes for the pilgrimage to the grave of Imam Husayn (a.s.), while being cognizant of his rights, and is neither an arrogant nor a denier, what has he earned?”
 Imām Jafar Sādiq (A.S.) said:
"One thousand accepted Hajj will be written down in his record, as also one thousand pious Umrah. And if he is a damned one, he shall be noted down as a felicitous one, and shall remain saturated eternally in the blessings of Allāh".

22) Imām Muhammad  Baqir (A.S.) said:
"Imām Husayn (a.s.) of Karbala was killed as the one subjected to oppression and severity, thirsty and devoid of any helpers, while Allāh, the Mighty, the Sublime, took an oath upon Himself that there is none among the distressed, the ones subjected to severity, the sinful, sorrowful, thirsty and ailing, who come to the head of his grave and ask for desires, while intending proximity to Husayn (a.s.), except that  Allāh , the Mighty, the Sublime, will relieve him of his severity, fulfill his desires, forgive his sins, increase his age and multiply his sustenance. 'Therefore get warned O ye who have eyes.' (Surah al-Hashr, 59:2)”

23) Holy Prophet (S.A.W.A) said:

24) Imām Ja'far Sādiq (A.S.) said:
Allāh(s.w.t.) will forgive one who performs the Ziyarat of Imām Husain (a.s.) every Friday. He will not leave the world with any sorrows about it and will dwell with Imām  Husain (a.s.) in Paradise. Then he said: O Dawood! Who does not like to be the neighbor of  Imām  Husain (a.s.) in Paradise? I replied, “One who has not achieved salvation.”
[Reference: Kamiluz Ziyaraat, Chapter 74, Tradition 3, page 174]

25) Imām Muhammad  Baqir (A.S.) said:
“Order our Shias to visit the grave of Imām Husayn ibn ‘Alī ibn Abī Tālib (a.s.), because his Ziyarat increases sustenance, prolongs life and keeps afflictions away.  And his Ziyarat is obligatory on every believer who believes that Imām Husayn (a.s.) is an Imām  appointed by Allāh (s.w.t.).”
[Reference: Kamiluz Ziyaraat, Chapter 61, Tradition 1, page 143]

26) Imām Ja'far  Sādiq (A.S.) said:
“If the visitor of Imām Husayn ibn ‘Alī ibn Abī Tālib (a.s.) and the people knew the blessings of the Ziyarat of Imām Husayn ibn ‘Alī ibn Abī Tālib (a.s.), they would have fought one another with swords and they would have sold their belongings to go to his Ziyarat.”

27) Imām Ja'far  Sādiq (A.S.) said:
“O Zurarah! The sky rained blood for forty days and the earth became dark for forty days and the sun was eclipsed and turned red for forty days; the mountains were torn into pieces and dispersed and the seas gushed out and the angels wept for forty days over His Eminence (a.s.).”
[Reference: Kamiluz Ziyaraat, Chapter 26, Tradition 6, page 84-85]

28) Imām Ja'far Sādiq (A.S.) said:
“One who weeps for Imām Husain (A.S.), surely, the Imām (A.S.) observes him and seeks forgiveness for him and requests his holy fathers to (also) seek forgiveness for him.”
 [Reference:  Bihar al-Anwar vol. 44,pg. 281]

29) Imām Ja'far Sādiq (A.S.) said:
‘O Safwaan! When you are confronted with some adversity, then seek redressal of your grievances from  Imām Hussain (a.s.) through the Aamaal of Ashoora. Allāh(s.w.t.) has pledged the fulfillment of demands with this Ziarat and Allāh(s.w.t.) never reneges on His word."

30) Alqamah bin Mohammed ibn Hazrami (r.a.) narrates ‘I requested Imām Baqir (a.s.) to teach me a dua that I should recite on the day of Aashoora after the reciting the Ziyaarat of Imām Husain (a.s.) – from near his (a.s.) grave or from a distance.
Imām Muhammad  ibn ‘Alī al-Baqir  (A.S.) replied:
‘O Alqamah, whenever you wish to recite the Ziyaarat of Imām Husain (a.s.), you first perform two units of prayers. Then turn towards the grave of Imām Husain (a.s.) and while pointing towards it, you first say ‘Salam’ and then ‘Takbir’. Thereafter, you recite this Ziyaarat (Ziyaarate Aashoora). If you do so, then as if you have recited the supplication read by the angels while visiting the grave of Imām Husain (a.s.). Moreover, when you recite this Ziyaarat, then
(a) Allah will increase your grade ten lakh times
(b) You will be included among those people who were martyred along with Imam Husain (a.s.)
(c) On the day of Judgment, you will be included among the martyrs
(d) You will get the reward of all the Prophets (a.s.) who have visited the grave of Imam Husain (a.s.) from the day that he (a.s.) was martyred till date. And the way of reciting the Ziyaarat is like this…’
(Then Imām (a.s.) recited the entire Ziyaarate Aashoora for Alqamah (r.a.)
At the end of this tradition, Imām Baqir (a.s.) says
"O Alqamah, if you can, then recite this Ziyaarat every day send salutations to Imām Husain (a.s.). You will get all the rewards (of the one who recites it on the day of Aashoora).’

31) Imām Ja'far Sādiq (A.S.) said:
O Safwaan! Allāh (s.w.t.) has sworn that one who recites my grandfather's (Imam Husain (as) Ziyaarat from near or afar and raises his hands to seek his demands after reciting this Ziyaarat, shall find Allāh (s.w.t.) on account of this Ziyaarat, shall not let disappointment and dejection befall His servant. Allāh (s.w.t.) will bestow him with nothing less than Paradise and immunize him from the Fire. His stature shall be elevated manifold, so that he will be bestowed with powers of intercession on the day of Mahshar (Judgment)... O Safwaan! Reciting Ziyaarat of Imam Husain (as) is equal to Ziyaarat of Allah(swt) at the Arsh (throne)."

32) Imām Ja'far Sādiq (A.S.) said:
"Four thousand angels came down to fight for Imam Husain (a.s.) but he did not permit them. When they came down again to seek permission, Imam Husain (a.s.) had already been martyred. So they remain at his grave, disheveled and covered with dust, crying over him until Judgment Day. Their leader is an angel called Mansur.”

33) Imām Ja'far Sādiq (A.S.) said:
Husain (the narrator) ! Allāh (s.w.t.) will write a good deed for one who leaves his house to perform the Ziyarat of Imam Husain (a.s.) on foot and erase a sin from him for every step he takes. Till he arrives at the holy shrine,  Allāh (s.w.t.)   will write him as one who has achieved salvation and as the successful one. After he completes the Ziyarat,  Allāh (s.w.t.)  will write him as the successful one. When he decides to return, an angel will come to him and say: “ Allāh’s Messenger conveys his salutation on you and tells you that all your previous sins are forgiven. So continue good deeds.”.

36) Imam `Alī ibn Husayn (a.s.) had wept for years  upon his father after the event of Karbala
Someone asked to Imām  (A.S)
“O my master! Your sorrow has not diminished and your lamenting has not ceased?”
Imām `Alī ibn Husayn (a.s.) Replied:
“Woe be to you! Ya'qoob (a.s.) was a Prophet and had twelve sons. One of his sons (Prophet Yusuf) was concealed from his eyes by Allāh, and the hair of his head turned grey due to extreme sorrow, and his back bent due to this anxiety, while the sight of his eyes faded due to excessive weeping, and all this although his son was alive in this world. While I have witnessed my father, brother and eighteen members from among my family fallen upon the ground and martyred, then how could my sorrow diminish and tears cease?”

37) Imām Ja'far Sādiq (A.S.) said:
"One who wants his destination and abode to be Paradise, should not omit the Ziyarat of the oppressed one (of Kerbala).
I (narrator) asked, “Who is the oppressed one?”
Imām (a.s.) replied: Imām Husain (a.s.), man of Kerbala. The Almighty Allāh will make one who goes to his Ziyarat longing for him and with love for Allāh’s Messenger (s.a.w.w.), love for Fatima  (s.a.)and love for Amirul Momineen (a.s.), sit at the dinner tables of Paradise. He will be eating with his chiefs while others undergo the process of Judgment.”

38) “It has been related that once Imām Ja'far al-Sādiq (A.S.) was ill. The Imām ordered someone to be hired to go to the tomb of Imām Hussein(a.s.) and to pray for him. The hired man expressed surprise, for to him there was no difference between the two Imāms. Therefore he asked for the reason.
Imām Ja'far ibn Muhammad  al-Sādiq (A.S.) said:
“This man is right but he does not know that Allāh(s.w.t) has specified lands where Duas are answered and the Holy shrine of Imam Hussein (A.S.) is one of them.”

40) Imām Muhammad Bāqir (A.S.) said:
“If people knew the reward for performing the Ziyarat of Imam Husain (a.s.), their souls would leave their bodies in remorse and they would die longing for it.”
I (narrator) asked, “What is the reward for going to his Ziyarat?”
Imām  (a.s.) replied: Allāh(s.w.t.) will record the reward of a thousand accepted Hajjs, a thousand accepted Umrahs, a thousand martyrs of Badr, fasting of a thousand people, a thousand accepted prostrations and the reward of freeing a thousand slaves in the way of Allāh(s.w.t.) for one who goes to the Ziyarat of Imam Husain (a.s.) longing for him. He will be protected for a whole year from every calamity, the least of which is Shaitan. And Allāh(s.w.t.) will appoint a noble angel to protect him from front, behind, right, left, above and below. If he dies that year, angels of divine mercy will be present with him, bathe and shroud him and seek forgiveness for him. They will also follow him till the grave and widen it as far as the eye can see and Allāh(s.w.t.) will keep him safe from the squeeze of the grave and from fear of angels, Munkar and Nakir. A door will also be opened from his grave to Paradise. On Judgment Day, scroll of deeds will be given in his right hand and he will shine with a light, which illuminates from the east to west. And an announcer will call out, “He is one who performed the Ziyarat of Imām Husain (a.s.) with enthusiasm.” After that no one will remain on Judgment Day who will not wish that he had also performed the Ziyarat of Imām Husain (a.s.).".
[References: Kamiluz Ziyaraat,  Chapter 56,  Tradition 3, page 138]

41) Imām Ja'far Sādiq (A.S.) said:
“Indeed the reward and compensation given by Allāh for the martyrdom of Imām Husayn (a.s.) is that Imāmate has been issued forth from his progeny, there is cure in (the earth of) his grave, the fulfillment of desires at the head of his grave, and from the time the pilgrim goes to visit his grave and returns back, no accounting will be taken (from him).”
Muhammad bin Muslim asked Imām Sādiq (a.s.), “These rewards are (for the people) on account of Imām, but what about the reward for him.” Imām replied,
“Indeed Almighty Allāh has united him with the Holy Prophet (S) and Imām remains with the Prophet in his station and position.” Then he recited the following verse of the Qur'ān:
“And (as for) those who believe and their offspring follow them in faith, We will unite with them their offspring.”

42) Imām Alī ibn Mūsā al-Rezā (A.S.) said:
"One who remembers our calamites and weep on them or makes others weep, on the day of Judgement he shall be with us in our category. One who is reminded of our sorrows and weeps or makes other people weep, his eyes shall not weep on the day (Qiyamat) when all the eyes shall be weeping".

43) Imām `Alī ibn Husayn (A.S.) said:
"One who cries for Imam Husain (a.s.) and his tears flow from the eyes and fall on his cheeks Almighty Allah would give him a place on a high apartment where he would live in peace for years. One who cries on the troubles given to us by our enemies in this world and his tears fall on his cheeks, the Almighty Allah would grant him a place in Maqam-e-Sidq. If a believer bears difficulties and becomes aggrieved for the calamities, which we have suffered, his eyes become wet, tears flow on cheeks, Allah would remove sufferings from his face and keep him safe from difficulties and chastisement on the Day of Judgment".

44) Imām Muhammad Bāqir (A.S.) said:
"If possible, don’t attempt to fulfill your needs on that day (of Ashura), for it is an ominous day when needs are not fulfilled. And even if they are fulfilled, one will not be blessed with them nor will he find any good in them. Do not buy or store anything in your house on this day.One who does so will not find any blessings in it nor will he be blessed with his family.
Allāh will record the reward of a million Hajjs, a million Umrahs and a million battles for one who follows these instructions and all of this will be recorded as if it was done with Allāh’s Messenger (s.a.w.s.). They will also earn the reward of being afflicted by tragedies of all prophets, messengers, truthful ones and the martyrs or were killed since the day Allāh created this world until Judgment Day".

45) Al-Qama says: I asked [Imām ‘Alī al-Bāqir (a.s.)], “May I be sacrificed on you! What about one who is in distant lands and far off countries and cannot travel to him on that day ?”
Imām Muhammad ibn ‘Alī al-Bāqir (A.S.) said:
"On Ashura Day, before noon, he should go to a desert or an elevated portion of his house and recite salutations to Imam Husain (a.s.), curse his killers excessively and pray two Rakats prayers. Then he should mourn and lament over Imam Husain (a.s.), order everyone in his house to lament him, hold a gathering in his house narrating Imam Husain’s tragedies and become restless on the tragedies of the Imam (a.s.), meet one another weeping and consoling one another over the Imam’s tragedies. If they do so, I guarantee that the Almighty Allāh will record all of those rewards for him.

47) Imām Muhammad Bāqir (A.S.) said:
"One who performs the Ziyarat of Imam Husain (a.s.) on tenth Muharram and spends the night besides him, weeping over him, will meet the Almighty Allāh, with the reward of two million Hajjs and two million Umrahs and reward of fighting two million  battles for Allāh. Also the reward of each of these Hajj, Umrah and battles will be equivalent to the reward of one who has performed Hajj, Umrah and Jihad with Allah’s Messenger and Righteous Imams – Allāh’s blessings be on all of them.
Al-Qama says: I asked, “May I be sacrificed on you! What about one who is in distant lands and far off countries and cannot travel to him on that day?”

48) Imām Muhammad Bāqir (a.s.) said:
"Imām Husain (a.s.) of Kerbala was slain while he was oppressed, distressed, thirsty and aggrieved. It is indeed fitting that every aggrieved, distressed, sinful, saddened, thirsty and ill person who goes to his Ziyarat and prays near his grave, seeks proximity to Allāh(s.w.t.) through him, will have his grief removed and Allāh(s.w.t.) will fulfill his needs, forgive his sins, prolong his life and increase his sustenance. “So take a lesson, O those who have insight!.”

49) Imām Alī ibn Mūsā al-Rezā (A.S.) said:
"“O son of Shabeeb! If you weep over the afflictions of Husayn (a.s.) such that tears flow from your eyes and fall upon your cheeks, Allāh (s.w.t.) will forgive all your sins whether big or small and less or large in number.”

50) Imām Alī ibn Mūsā al-Rezā (A.S.) said:
"When the month of Muharram would approach, no one would see my father (Imām Moosā al Kazim[a.s.]) ever laughing until the tenth, and grief would prevail upon him. And the tenth would be the day of sorrow, grief and lamenting, and he would say: This is the day when Husayn (a.s.) was massacred.”

51) Imām Alī ibn Mūsā al-Rezā (A.S.) said:
"O son of Shabeeb! If you wish to mourn and lament over anyone, do so upon Husayn bin Ali bin Abi Tālib (a.s.) for he was beheaded like a lamb. Eighteen persons from among his family, who were unparalleled in the earth, were also killed along with him. The heavens and the earth lamented the death of Husayn (a.s.). Four thousand Angels descended from the heavens to aid him, but when they reached there they saw that he had already been martyred. Thus, now they all remain near his blessed grave with disheveled hair covered with dust until the rising of the Qaem (Imām al Mahdi). Then they will all aid him and their slogan will be: Vengeance for the blood of Husayn".
